WEDDING EMCEE PHILIPPINES - RUNNING THE SHOW

The excitement and joy hosting a wedding reception program is fulfillment for a wedding emcee. Running the show needs not flaunt how good you speak or how polished your diction is. The wedding emcee is there like an entertainer filling gaps of boredom having tricks on his sleeves. No need for frills or antics to make a show. All it needs is to run things smoothly on the handle.

A long wedding reception program is not advisable. A wedding emcee is there for what are most important parts to include. Highlights of the celebration are thinkable and there are ways to inovolve such. The program host is around to exact the right flow and he is more expert than the bride or groom through exposure.

Popular masters of ceremonies don't accept criticism. They feel they know it all. To them having a nice speaking voice is all it takes. It is a plus but consider delivery, how words are spoken, the energy of the wedding host, even his smile and how he interacts, how he organizes. Just few to mention.

The triumph of a wedding program relies on a wedding host's hands and laurels are enough  to say to himself, "I have contributed something good!"

A Wedding Event - Recollection by Augustine Music and Events

The father was obviously keyed up about his daughter's wedding just few days more and arrangements were done mostly by him with the presence of the future bride and equally edgy mother. They had made the major preparations and opted to add pizazz for the big day by engaging with wedding musicians.

The father of the future bride decided to get us from comparisons made and a week after, the lovely daughter forwarded me the music list closes to their hearts and some were not familiar to us so we did the usual searching of pieces but failed. Good Youtube provides the opportunity for musicians or artists to learn the melody for possible delivery of their chosen songs.

The day of the wedding rolled up. I left the house three hours prior to the wedding because traffic is terrible during Saturdays along Edsa. Much to my alarm, it was the worst traffic I encountered. I immediately called my pianist to help me in case I would be late by asking the church singer to take over, if late. I felt appeased that it was possible.

I reached the church in Sucat just in time for the Offertory to sing their requested wedding song. And I felt better.
After the ceremony, another travel time for the reception at Leslie's, a stone walled restaurant with antique woods flourishing the place. A distinctive wedding reception venue, I can say.

The program started a bit late just to gather all guests before commencing. It was a wonderful wedding to start with. Not much flair of a program but the music from Augustine Music and Events did their sincere share of making the event a marvel and some guests with their wonderful renditions of the couple's favorite songs. It completed the night. Even the bride did a share of a song for her love one and for the guests. She was brave enough to sing a tough song with our accompaniment.

To end casually, Godspeed for the couple!

Intimate Wedding - Experience by Augustine Music and Events

An afternoon wedding set for two lovely couple where friends and relatives came despite the rain on a Tuesday. When the ceremony started, the rain stopped for added comfort for those who came a little late when the bride had her walk with the song of Taylor Swift played on a CD. The church choir did the mass songs during the ceremony and for the pictorials, the Augustine Music and Events musicians rendered some songs and music.

Allen and Aira were indeed happy celebrating their wedding with close relatives and friends in  the beautiful church of Our Lady of Consolacion Parish in Tierra Pura, Quezon City. This is one place where serenity is found, especially weddings.

The reception is adjacent from church. The Bulwagang Recoletos can seat 200 guests when all rooms are opened. It is intended for small group divided into three rooms but you can occupy the whole hall, if desired. Wedding reception here offers convenience for guests and just steps lead you to a well-maintained venue really intended for various functions of any kind – weddings, debut, birthdays and seminars.

The couple opted for simple music with just a piano and flute with a wedding singer and program host. They had special guest during the reception who played two classical music with his violin. Guests who offer special numbers during the reception add spice to the festivity and more to the delight of the couple, for sure. The violinist added glitz.

The Reyes and Gulpeo wedding is another experience for us performers or we can say dedicated wedding musicians doing the best we can no matter what. We also accept the fact that at times we falter with the work we do but foremost in our minds is to contribute gaiety to an affair with the brand of music we share. Augustine Music and Events plays a part of this by providing songs and music, as well as running the wedding reception program devised by the couple.

We want to thank Allen and Aira for affording us the honor as a part of a well prepared wedding. From the bottom of our hearts, Godspeed!

Wedding Singer Sings Soul - A World Class Performance

Soul jazz music is a light free interpretation  of controlled tone without raising the voice to the hilt. A tender emotion has to be presented.

Jazz music cools as you sip a drink or two with someone mesmerizing a longing for romance with sincere acceptance. The background music enhances the feel of the moment.

The beauty of music regards the importance of melodic empathy  and interpreting the message needs the vivacity of a true performer knowing the control of pitch and turns. The caliber of a sincere performer entails.

MANILA PROGRAM EVENT EMCEE - MARIO LUPATO

A gathering of children and relatives that filled the hall of Fernandina Bar and Restaurant made the celebrant on his 75th birthday celebration emotional almost with tears.  Mood music of Augustine Music and Events and program hosting by Mario Lupato contributed for a successful affair.

The messages of the children who mostly arrived from the states with their kids were meant and you could feel their longing for a wonderful person. The program was handed to me an hour before it started and suggested  their participation. The celebrant's two daughters did fantastic song numbers displaying real voice quality and a grandchild did a special song for him singing an apt song, “Thank you.”

Another highlight was when the grandchildren did a special scintillating dance number to our delight. But the best part was when the celebrant did his message summarizing a life bringing up professional children of eight. Two are here in the Philippines and the rest arrived from the states to grace an important event of their father, Mr. Quintin Exevea Macaculop.
Intimate affair like a birthday compares to a wedding where concerns matter. The casual touch eases everyone and preparations are not that extensive and expensive but a  special moment like birthday party is a memory that last until the next one.

FILIPINO AND BRITISH GAY MARRIAGE: WEDDING RECEPTION PROGRAM

From an article I’ve written about a lesbian wedding, I was found and asked to host wedding program of a gay marriage that of a Filipino and a British. They are private persons and I won’t mention their names but only my wonderful experience of a very private wedding ceremony and reception in Tagaytay. Private because there were only 50 guests mostly friends from both sides. If my guest is right, I think they are of the same ages turning forty.

It was a brief Christian Wedding Ceremony having their personal wedding vows exchanged. There was no music background during the ceremony and mostly words of wisdom from the pastor. It took them 30 minutes to finish.

The wedding reception started exactly at 6 pm and after they were introduced proceeded to the dance floor and did the traditional first dance to the music of “now and forever.” And after that brief moment I let them do the wedding traditions of cutting the cake, wedding toast and dove release.

Before dinner, some acknowledgement was made and a fervent prayer was done by the pastor. Popular mp3 music was provided during dinner and a song from a friend was rendered followed by another doing a classic Filipino song to the guests’ delight.

One of the touching moments of the wedding reception was during the ceremonial toast where a best friend delivered a love poem for both with that sincere British accent. He made that for both and I find it fascinating. Wedding poetry is now becoming an in thing.

They opted not to do the traditional wedding game but introduced two male young couple who are also planning to tie knot as the men of the hour. A romantic song was played and the pairs danced, instead. I found it so touching and thought that love really spreads good tidings.

A message of thanks were said by both and after their sincere words for all of us, a dance party started that lasted for more than an hour straight.

A simple wedding reception program was prepared but to me this is one of the best weddings I’ve attended – no pretentions, no malice and most of all, another exciting Philippine wedding destination experience.

Wedding Planning on an Open Field - Augustine Music and Events

It was a turnaround of schedule and a relative’s wedding was set for an afternoon outdoor Christian Wedding on an open field overlooking the famous Taal Lake in Tagaytay. This was a first experience where ceremony was held in huge tract of land and just few trees sprouting a distance afar looking like a safari but breathtaking nonetheless.

It was easy for me to manage the guests and activities for the wedding ceremony and reception of about 70 guests mostly coming from the north. Around 3:30 pm when everything was set and ready for the line-up of the bridal entourage for the wedding procession. Exactly 4 pm when we started. There were no wedding musicians around but a solo guitar player who is a close relative of the bride making do with a simple sound system of two speakers but he sounded good strumming his classical guitar for the piece Canon in D for the procession and for the bridal march, an original composition was rendered by him. Unfortunately, it crossed my mind to ask for the title.

The music during the wedding ceremony was very tame. It was so romantic just hearing a single instrumentalist doing favorite wedding music list from the couple. Everyone felt awed with solemnity of the affair amidst the soft hush of breeze so cool and invigorating as the couple exchanged their wedding vows with faint guitar sound doing the famous Filipino song, “Ikaw.”

When the ceremony was done, there was a cocktail set for everybody timely to do a little rearrangement of tables and chairs for the reception on the same ground. It was 6 pm when the wedding program started. All center tables were adorned with lighted candles and faint light coming from the distant road adding shiny reflections from the sea stream creating a fantastic environ, to me was the most fascinating reception I’ve attended. To my dismay, I wasn’t able to capture anything. Their wedding photographer was a relative of the bride and I guess she wasn’t charged like me because the groom is my close relative. The bride is from Cavite and the groom is an Ilocano from the north.

I didn’t have much time for myself because I hosted the wedding reception program and I was alone doing everything from the wedding planning till the wrap-up job. It took me a week for the preparations and everything turned just right with some help from the bride’s relatives.

It was an unforgettable Philippine wedding and I will always treasure the moments with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pinto who conceptualized a simple budgeted wedding but turned into what we can call a dream wedding.

GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY - AUGUSTINE MUSIC AND EVENTS

It was a casual wedding celebration with the children doing the rounds that day of August 6 to set a wedding reception party out of the celebrants wish for an orderly event. The guests from far and near came to join the festivity for after 50 years here they were to renew their unending vow of love.

Joeben and Babie, as they are fondly called arrived on time for the 5pm golden wedding mass officiated by two priests from Sanctuario de San Jose though the rite was held at a clubhouse intimate enough to house around 150 guests mostly friends and of course, members of the family with their kids.

Wedding musicians from Augustine Music and Events provided the chosen wedding music the couple found appropriate with  participation of the grandchildren playing the bridal march and a song from a mother and daughter tandem during the vows where they did first the song number then vows were exchanged. It was a touching moment listening to the wonderful and meaningful words from both with soft romantic background music live from Augustine Music.

During the offertory, a classic wedding song was offered then for the communion a classical piece was rendered touching the hearts of both for they love those selections.

When the wedding ceremony was done, a cocktail was prepared for the guests as rearrangement of the venue took place. It took about 30 minutes to finish ready for the wedding reception program prepared by the eldest of the children. It was a simple program with mostly the children and kids doing numbers to the guests’ delight. Well, a program more of showcasing talents and entertainment. It was fun being involved even just watching as they did their numbers. Even the audio-visual presentation took longer than expected then repeated for the couple to watch after they had their photo sessions moving from table-to-table having pictorials with the guests being at their 80’s but looking years younger than their ages. Their agility simply dictates that they live a healthy lifestyle.

Then rain poured heavily timely for the program to end but it did not take that long ready for the guests to go home with light feelings because they had wonderful moments with the couple on their 50th wedding golden anniversary party.

Perfection is not required for any celebration but the simple joy being around is called for and weddings in the Philippines are most cherished not because of romance but the sheer involvement making an affair worth remembering. Being into music, wedding musicians of the Philippines add soul to WEDDINGS. And for us artists, if we made clients happy – that is achievement.

A WEDDING AT FERNBROOK GARDENS - AUGUSTINE MUSIC AND EVENTS

The wedding of Mike and Bing started at exactly 4:30 pm at the Notre Damne di Chapelle when all guests were settled down before the procession began with their chosen music, “Down” in slow version then when the bride walked the aisle the song, “Angels Brought Me Here” was played. An intimate duo of a pianist and vocalist did the music.

Bishop Famadico officiated the solemn mass in Pilipino but the couple opted the offertory and communion songs in English. It seemed contradicting but that's what they wanted and it was not felt differently, anyway. And the Lord's Prayer instead of recited was sang in Tagalog by Francisco's version of “Ama Namin” which I consider the best among other versions.

During the pictorial, light Tagalog songs were rendered and the rest were beautiful Pilipino instrumentals familiar to most of us. Piano solo seems appreciable because of the lightness it brings to a music so romantic from a distance. It seems like a bird hum. It creates solemnity around a chapel like the one in Fernbrook Gardens. Normally, church activities last for more than an hour in preparation for the grand celebration where a feast is ready to share.

Before program started, hors d' ouevre and drinks were served that lasted for an hour. And when the couple was ready all the members of the entourage except parents and principal sponsors were assembled by the wedding coordinators for the presentation where the members danced to a fast music as introduced. They wholeheartedly did a share of gaiety to the guests' delight and when Mike and Bing were introduced they did a choreographed dance when they reached the center floor. It was fun watching the two enjoying the moment. All of us enjoyed the scene that not often done – four different dance styles. Something to beat merging it around for four or five minutes.

The wedding duo of Augustine Music and Events shared light-easy-listening kind of music during dinner. When almost all are halfway done with their dinner a guest performer sang a beautiful rendition of “Faithfully” then followed by her daughter belting a Whitney Huston's song. It added a certain variety to the occasion and another guest sang a classic Tagalog song, “Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Mo” with a lilt and a surprise number from a close friend that resembled a novelty piece but fun to listen to and obviously it sent a message to her friend.

To prolong the program, a question and answer trivia game was done with the bride and groom kissing each other when the answer was right and the winners got beautiful gifts. This is one way to involve the guests and it adds a certain flavor to a celebration.

As always, I treasure wedding memories and this is one of them. Weddings are fun to be engaged with even they are almost the same, there is something new that surprises and something to reckon with.

WEDDING EVENT PLANNING PHILIPPINES - AUGUSTINE MUSIC AND EVENTS DIARY

Wedding destination is a consideration for a couple to tie the knot when one is from our country, Philippines and another from a different country. A prospective client asked me how to prepare their wedding scheduled here. She has her wedding to do list and concerns need attending. I heard that some do this to spam but her emails come every now and then asking me how to be paid initially. I suggested that she will ask a favor from a relative here in the Philippines and from there will do the preparations.

Nonetheless, we want to help in any manner we can. A wedding coordinator or planner doesn't take the fee as the first consideration. I emailed her the basics she needs to consider so that when they are back here they'll have some guidelines to follow. A wedding checklist is a simple tool but it's a starter. It is similar to what to do wedding guide.

Wedding coordinators in the Philippines, I must say are dedicated ones and many are able to help. Others do this for fee as the primary concern to augment an income. Others do this for the passion to help a bride realize a dream wedding.

In other countries wedding coordination is considered a profession. Here in the Philippines, it is taken as an avocation. But seminars sprout every now and then discussing the rudiments of a professional wedding coordination having modules to follow and structured for practical implementations.

Even in the internet you can find vast ways to do the job, confusing they may seem but from there you get the idea. Event planning is common sense act. There is no fast rules to follow but artistry is called for to create something of the unusual. Imagination, too plays the role for its creation. Even wedding trends come every now and then. Some fade out others become novel and what is novel is something considered to be different.

Exploration is key to stand out in this field because every one imitates anyone. What differs is a certain approach not felt but present an extension for preparing a wedding worth cherishing for. What counts anyway is that during the big moment things are done exactly what the couple wants it to happen. In weddings, the word SMOOTH is always tagged in the minds of the groom-to-be and his bride and the wedding planner who honestly initiates the promise.

Philippine weddings are the same. What make it different is the theme, the feeling derived from the affair, the atmosphere it creates, the solemnity of the ceremony, the wedding reception program set-up devised by the couple, the diverse guests' personality, guest list (small or big), the sumptuous meal prepared especially for the guests, special gifts from guests.

But what makes a wedding celebration special are the presence of the important persons in the lives of the couple. That is the greatest gift on their wedding day.

WEDDING PLANNING SIMPLE RULES - AUGUSTINE MUSIC AND EVENTS

Doing weddings is a passion and the joy of extended help gives a high and sharing the passion is a gesture of love. Wedding coordinators must revive the profession to the core and keep exploring trends and unsual ideas to create a difference.

Make it a point to personally meet a client and the first meeting has to be maintained with personal touch. Act very relaxed so that client feels the same. That is very important. And always bear in mind to sincerely help. Sincerity is obvious enough to be felt by anybody and faking it erases a real dream wedding.

Special events center to what preparations are made for. Wedding guidelines are attuned similar to a bible - a book at hand ready to be scoured and discover the reality of the sacrament of marriage. It is sacred and how to prepare a wedding lists trends, ideas, tips, guides and anything related serving as a bridal information manual. The bride is aware of this and an event planner helps carry out the magic checklist.
