Sad Wedding Story

The wedding was set for October 10, 2009 at Fernbrook and it was already been prepared for many months by the mother of the groom in anticipation for the arrival of the couple-to-be from the states but bad news broke. The husband-to-be stayed in Manila to meet his relatives and friends two days before the wedding while his wife-to-be went to Baguio, her hometown. The moment she reached Baguio super Typhoon Peping hit the city and other northern parts. The bride was stranded. The following day would be her wedding but roads were not passable because of the landslides that killed many. It was a devastating storm after that strong rage of Typhoon Ondoy that hit Metro Manila, a devastating typhoon, too that left many homeless and many dead.

The wedding was scheduled the next day but hours before the event the bride couldn’t make it still because it would take several days to clear the road going to Manila. It was sad that such a cherished moment supposedly was marred.

October 11, 2009 turned into a get together instead. Friends and relatives gathered to celebrate the birthday of the groom's grandmother instead of a wedding reception. Still, there was the set-up with the groom with his parents in a separate table. The couple arrived from Hawaii barely a week ago for the big day. Still, it was a moment for a wonderful longing with friends and relatives. Still, the spirit reigned

Before the dinner started the groom did some spiels mentioning how they met and a bit of courtship thing stressing their professed love with that controlled American accent about to crack with tears but managed not to.

We provided the music during the party and as usual the party went well. There were about 120 guests that filled the Byzantine Hall of Fernbrook Gardens. Our music progressed longer because there was no program at all. Just music and food. And more conversations as our tamed music floated in the air.

It was about 11:00 pm when we’re done and some guests still stayed enjoying the moment with one another. Pilipinos are really longing with relatives after sometime. And a get-together is a way for one’s expression.

I heard that after two days, they had their marital blessing from a priest, privately.
